6 Upcoming DC Comics Movies to Watch Out For

In this age of superhero franchises, it is difficult to keep up with all the movies that are hitting our screens on a daily basis.

For fans of DC Comics movies, these are the 6 movies you dare not miss.

1. Justice League

The wait will soon be over! 'Justice League' is hitting your screens in late 2017! You will finally see a team of all your great superheroes unite as the Justice League takes on Steppenwolf, whose appearance in this movie was hinted at in deleted scenes from 'Batman vs Superman'.

This film will be the third to be directed by Zack Snyder and will feature Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. In the movie, Superman is dead. The best defense against alien threats is no more. Unfortunately, there is a greater threat approaching and the planet can’t wait helplessly for it to show up…

2. Aquaman

Towards the end of next year, the 'Aquaman' will do plenty of battles on land and in water. You will see one of the toughest and most terrifying stars in 'Game of Thrones' starring in this movie. The movie will take you to the depths of the ocean, where you will see DC Comic’s King of Atlantis in the center of the action.

A waterman with a harpoon spear in his hands! Looks silly, doesn’t it? In addition to that, he is able to communicate amicably with sea life! Don’t you think you will just love this guy!  And you know what? They are having challenges lighting underwater sets!

Amber Heard has to be featured as Queen of the Sea while Patrick Wilson will be Aquaman’s evil half-brother, the Ocean Master. Director James Wan says the movie will have la lighter tone, unlike most DC movies which are dark and gritty. Watch out for it in October 2018.

The film is based on Geoff Johns's 2011 'Aquaman' comic and Jason Momoa starring as the lead character

3. Shazam

Warner Brothers and DC Comics have been trying to develop a 'Shazam' movie for years. Finally ladies and gentlemen, here it comes….

Sorry for wetting your appetite for it…but it will be screened in 2019. Well, I have to say that is a pretty long wait for a great blockbuster. 2019 is just around the corner though so no need to panic. The plot will center on a small boy, Billy Batson, who can transform into an adult superhero after saying the titular word, thanks to the teachings of an old wizard. Dwayne Johnson, who has signed up to play the role of the villain Black Adam, is one of the casts who's already been announced.  The Wrap reports that Swedish horror director David. F. Sandberg is in talks to direct the movie.

Alan Alda, F. Murray Abraham, Michael Keaton, and Tony Shalhoub are being considered to play the wizard 'Shazam'

4. Cyborg Comes Back in April 2020

The story will center on Victor Stone, a gifted high school football player who can get the attention of everybody, except his father. Silas Stone, Victor’s father, works in the S.T.A.R labs as a scientist. Victor is in the lab when an accident occurs, and though he is left clinging to life, his father works to save him by giving him robotic pieces and injecting him with nanites.

What does he turn into? A half-robot, half-human superhero.

5. Green Lantern Corps

Warner Bros. & DC Comics are rebooting the famed intergalactic peacekeeping force by making a team movie out of it instead of focusing on only the Emerald Knight. Though Ryan Reynolds won over audiences over as 'Deadpool', his remarkable portrayal of Hal Jordan in Green Lantern fell flat. But according to information picked up from the grapevine, Hal Jordan and John Stewart could both feature in this movie.

'Green Lantern Corps'  Reboot of 'Green Lantern' (2011) and it is rumored that this film will focus more on the Green Lantern Corp as a whole rather than one individual Green Lantern

6. Wonder Woman

This is the first female-led superhero movie in the present generation of the genre. If Gal Gadot can pull it off in this movie, it could influence studios to produce more female-led superhero movies in the future. The movie is set during the years of World War 1. It will delve into her origins as a demi-god, and also take a look at her experiences in the world of man.

This could be that one movie that silences the critics of the ability of female heroes to lead box office success. Brace yourself up! It is coming out in just a couple of months. Currently, Wonder Woman is doing a round of test screening. And you know test audiences are legally prohibited from commenting! The buzz is that it’s going to be a great movie.

This film  is the start of a planned trilogy for Wonder Woman and is the fourth film in the shared DC Extended Universe
