43rd annual 'Peoples Choice Awards' – Everything That Happened

People’s Choice Awards were back for the 43rd time in history and they were as glamorous as ever. Hosted by Joel McHale and packed with whooping 64 categories the show lasted all night. Despite a lot of categories, the awards were unbelievably entertaining, mostly due to McHale’s incredible hosting skills. Let’s see who went home with a statue.

Movie

Ellen DeGeneres won three awards and became the first person in the history to win twenty People’s Choice trophies. Her film 'Finding Dory' won the favorite of the year award, defeating competitors such as 'Suicide Squad' and 'Deadpool'. The favorite movie actor award went in the hands of Tom Hanks, the star of 'Sully', while at the ladies it was Jennifer Lawrence that managed to win over the audience.

'Deadpool' failed to win the favorite film of the year award, but the audiences decided that it was the best action movie of the year. Robert Downey Jr. won the award for the favorite actor in that category. Margot Robbie was equally as successful, winning the favorite actress award. 'The Girl on the Train' won in the favorite thriller of the year category. 'Finding Dory' was voted as the favorite family movie. Johnny Depp was voted as the favorite movie icon and he gave the best speeches in the history of the awards.

At the comedic side od the event, 'Bad Moms' managed to get a statue for the favorite comedy of the year. Kevin Hart and Melissa McCarthy won awards in their respective categories.

'Sully' and its star, Tom Hanks, managed to dominate the drama categories. Blake Lively won the favorite actress award. She managed to win the by defeating the likes of Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Emily Blunt and Amy Adams. Pretty impressive group, huh?

TV

The fans chose 'Outlander' as their favorite network show of the year. 'The Big Bang Theory' and its star Jim Parsons dominated their respective categories. Sofia Vergara managed to get herself a statue as well. 'Grey’s Anatomy' won the award for the favorite drama show. Justin Chambers and Priyanka Chopra won in their respective categories. 'Bates Motel' snatched the holy trinity, winning the best show on cable TV award while their stars Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga completely dominated their categories. Matt LeBlanc won the award for the best actor in a new series for his performance in 'Man With a Plan'. The star of 'Friends' is now starring in two award-winning shows, 'Episodes' and 'Man With a Plan'.

Music

Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears managed to win in the two most important categories of the night. Fifth Harmony won the award for the favorite group while Niall Horan, the member of One Direction, won the award for favorite breakout artist for his solo album. Blake Shelton had the favorite album of the year. 'Can’t Stop The Feeling' by Justin Timberlake was this year’s favorite song.
