'The Simpsons' there is a possibility for another movie?

The most famous yellow family on Earth, the reason why many kids first started coloring humans in notebooks using a yellow crayon, entered its 28th season this autumn, showing no signs of slowing down in a marathon that began all the way back in 1989. Since then, 'The Simpsons’ creators have spawned over 600 episodes and a certain movie in 2007, in which Homer Simpson, an irresponsible father, with as much environmental awareness as he has hair on his head, pollutes the lake in Springfield and therefore he and his family get banished from the town. Only then Homer realizes the mistakes he had made and, eventually, like a superhero he really is, with the help of his entire family, saves Springfield from destruction.

The movie did well at the box office, filling the Springfield’s home budget with **$**527.9 million, just in time for the economic crisis that arrived in 2008, making Homer a happy and financially secure man and husband. He may have even taken his beloved Marge to a fancy restaurant. But, is that success a spark that will encourage the producers to make a sequel?

Unfortunately, for the time being, it looks like it is far from reality. Al Jean, the executive producer, said in 2015 that making a movie is an intense and long process and that he would rather finish the show first. Something very similar said executive producer James L. Brooks when he was asked about the possibility of a sequel, that there have been requests, but nothing has been done so far to make them work on it.

On the 4th of January 2015, an episode aired titled 'The Man Who Came to Be Dinner', in which Homer and his family were abducted by aliens Kang and Kodos and were nearly eaten. This episode would be just an (extra) ordinary episode like the rest, if it wasn’t for Al Jean’s tweet, in which he said that the plot of the episode could have made it on the big screen as a sequel to 'The Simpsons Movie', but they were not sure about the whole idea and ultimately decided to just air it as a single episode.

Fast forward to San Diego Comic-Con in 2016, where Fox brought several show producers, the voice of our favorite and misunderstood rebel Bart Simpson that is Nancy Cartwright and the director of 'The Simpsons Movie', David Silverman. They presented the newest season and talked about the possibility of 'The Simpsons Movie 2' and the future looks much brighter. Al Jean stated that they will make a sequel under one condition if it’s good. They would never do it just to take people’s money. Fox looks ready to dive into creating the continuation to the story, but the creative team behind the show knows that they have to outdo themselves in quality to build up on the story.

In the end, it seems as though the producers haven’t given up on the idea and the hope still remains among the show followers who would like to see the Simpsons family embark on another adventure, on this planet or another.
