A Consolation prize for all 'Potterheads'

For every 'Potterhead' out there, although the prospect of a straight-up Harry Potter movie may not be a near time reality yet, be consoled because if this announcement is anything to go by, Warner Bros. is fully prepared to keep us glued to the wizarding universe for a pretty long time.

On Thursday, J.K Rowling, the mastermind behind the 'Harry Potter' series, announced that 'The Fantastic Beasts' franchise will comprise five movies as opposed to the earlier announcement of three movies. From the onset, it is crystal clear that Warner Bros is fully confident with the series and they want to take full advantage of association to 'Harry Potter'.'

David Yates on the set of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them'

Long before the official announcement by Rowling, Warner Bros. had formally announced that November 2018 would see the release of the 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2'. Moreover, David Yates, the official director of the first 'Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them' and four previous 'Harry Potter' movies returns as the sequel director.

Despite earlier speculations that the series would be a trilogy, it appears that the maestro (Rowling) was able to draft a more sprawling narrative that substantiated to several more movies. In her statement, she confirmed that the previous announcement that the franchise would be a trilogy was only as a 'placeholder'.

The announcement which came during the global Fantastic Beasts fan event was followed by a short ten-minute preview of the 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' which heightened the anticipation for its official release. The response from the fans who attended the event and the early buzz on the sequel was highly affirmative. Not only is Rowling making her debut as a screenwriter in this franchise but she is also the script writer. Basing it on the billionaire author’s dedication to the world of wizarding, it is hard to imagine her not writing the scripts for all the five movies assuming everything carries on in this note.

Take a glimpse of the magical creatures, 'Billywig'

The 'Fantastic Beasts and where to find them' sequel introduces the audience to the story of a writer - Newt Scamander (Redmayne)-who is the course of tracking down and documenting on distinct magical creatures. In Potter world, the writings of a book Newt are inspired by his research which is then studied at Hogwarts by Harry and his friends. It comes as no bolt from the blue that Warner Bros, owned by Time Warner is going out large on the five-movie franchise especially since 'Potterheads' have been anxiously awaiting the 'Harry Potter' sequel and this announcement may have just heightened the premonition.

'Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them', chapter 1, comes in theaters on November 2016

Just recently, there was an opening in London for 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child', a play carrying on the main Harry Potter plot. However, for many fans that expected and hoped that the play would get a movie adaptation; their hopes were quickly squashed by a confirmation from Rowling that it would not push through to a movie. Putting this into consideration, the announcement that a five-movie franchise 'The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is on course to release is possibly a pretty concrete consolation prize for all Warner Bros fanatics.
