Guy Ritchie bring his unique style into directing 'Aladdin' live-action remake

Should his pitch go through as it's reportedly on the verge of doing, Guy Ritchie will be the man at the helm of Disney's upcoming live-action Aladdin adaptation.

Ritchie is reported to have tabled a nontraditional pitch that will most definitely guarantee him this latest job that Disney has to offer. Disney had come to a decision to produce a live-action version of its 1992 animated film 'Aladdin' and has been holding interview sessions lately in an attempt to find a director for the project.

The gifted director who is known for exemplary works such as 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Snatch' (2000) will be reunited with Dan Lin should Disney give him the nod. Lin is set to be the producer of the upcoming adaptation. He and Ritchie have previously worked together on the latter's two films, 'Sherlock Holmes'.

It remains to be seen what kind of result the two filmmakers will deliver as Lin has also promised to take a zealous and non-typical approach to Aladdin. The Taiwanese-born American film producer has worked such as 'Gangster Squad' and 'The Lego Movie' in his portfolio.

Why Ritchie is right for the job

The ex-husband to Madonna is fit for the Disney vacancy because of the experience he carries and the success of his earlier as well as latest works. He has worked in the blockbuster realm most of his career life and certainly must know how to approach an enormous project like 'Aladdin' 'live-action.

Ritchie's two early projects 'Snatch' and 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' enjoyed immense success. His recent project 'The Man From UNCLE' also received an attractive share of accolades and his latest King Arthur, though not highly praised, couldn't be all that bad considering that reviewers have only seen sneak peeks of it.

Upcoming adaptation's crew

Aside from Lin and Ritchie should his bid go through, the new film will feature Jonathan Eirich as the executive producer and _John Augus_t as the scriptwriter. The other crew are yet to be known.

John August is expected to produce a stellar content out of the 'Aladdin' story. He has previously been successful with 'Big Fish' as well as other films. It is expected that the script will retain most of the musical elements present in the animated version. What still remains a puzzle, however, is what will be done about the Genie. This character was voiced in the original film by the late Robin Williams and his prowess at doing so earned him global accolades.

Disney redoing its animated classics

Aladdin will not be the first animated film that Disney is adapting into a live-action version. The world renown film studio has previously turned its works such as 'Cinderella' and Angelina Jolie starring 'Maleficent' in live-action films. Its most recent adaptation project is the multimillion dollar film, 'The Jungle Book'.

After 'Aladdin', Disney will be seeking to work on other films like 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Mary Poppins Returns'. These are expected to be out in 2017 and 2018 respectively. 'The Lion King' could also be one of the next targets for the live-action adaptation. Celebrated Hollywood actress Emma Watson will be one of the stars who will star in the adaptations. She will have a role in 'Beauty and the Beast'.
