At last, the secret to 'Crisis in six scenes' Is revealed

Woody Allen has teamed up with Amazon Studios for his first TV series, 'Crisis in Six Scenes'. The show, which is set to premiere on September 30th, tells the story of a US suburban family living through the tumultuous 1960s when plenty of controversy and turmoil was engulfing the United States. Specifically, the show will follow a middle-class suburban family that is visited by a guest who turns their household completely upside down. That’s a pretty vague description of the story, but that’s what we’ve come to expect from Woody Allen.

The 80-year old filmmaker is writing, directing and starring in the new series that will have six episodes and is meant to have only one season. The rest of the cast includes some interesting choices ranging from the young pop star and occasional actress Miley Cyrus, to veteran comedian actress and filmmaker Elaine May, Rachel Brosnahan and John Magaro.

However, neither of them are featured in the above clip which features Allen as Sidney Muntzinger, being very specific though a bit fanciful about the James Dean haircut he wants while his barber (Max Casella) is pretty doubtful about it. Though reports have indicated that a second scene was shown at the TCA panel for Amazon that included Miley Cyrus giving Woody Allen’s character some grief about a hot fudge machine that he has in his house while other Americans suffer from malnutrition. So it sounds like Cyrus will be the guest messing with the suburban family in the description.

Following the release of last month’s teaser trailer, the clip teases more scenes from the forthcoming comedy and also gives a pretty good taste of the style of comedy to come.
One scene from the two-minute clip sees Cyrus’ character appearing to meet Allen for the very first time. 'I don’t dislike you. Just everything that you stand for’ she says. In another, Allen tells his barber he’s been working on an idea for a television series.'Oh I see, the usual dysfunctional family with the wise-cracking’ wife and kids and much-harassed husband kind of thing?’ the barber asks, to which Allen shrugs.

Back in May at the Cannes Film Festival, Allen – who’s also sitting in the director’s chair – described his work on the series as a 'catastrophic mistake’, according to The Guardian.'I’m struggling with it at home. I should never have gotten into it’ he said.'I thought it was going to be easy. You do a movie and it’s a big long thing; to do six half-hours you’d think would be a cinch. But it’s not: it’s very, very hard’.

'Crisis in Six Scenes' will be available exclusively on Amazon Video in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Amazon has ordered a full season. Allen confirmed in May 2016 that the editing of the series was finished, and said this will be the only season of the series.
