Game of Thrones 'Battle of the Bastards'

The Game of Thrones – Battle of the Bastards not only was arguably the most anticipated and highest viewed episodes to be released but many are saying it quite possibly was some of the best produced ever for the small screen. Everything from the plot of the episode, the amount of money that was set aside for production costs to the director skills implemented for the Season 6 episode; everyone is wondering how the production team can top it for the upcoming episodes. Let’s summarize a little on why the Battle of Bastards was so epic!

The action was pure entertainment and pushed the envelope for future episodes. If one was to explain this episode as “epic” it would be an understatement. The only way to really put it is a mix between Mad Max and Lord of the Rings mashed into an all out war but with better actors and effects. Mixing what we think is reality in a war scene with utterly imagination we were immersed into a glorious battle entailing men crawling over dead comrades, warriors fighting their enemies and a battle that ended is visceral horror.

How about that twist as well? When Sansa’s reinforcement showed up and ended up being Littlefinger’s Knights of the Vale. Know one saw that one coming and this is why we continue to watch this show. All though most think it was Jon who overcame Ramsay that is far from the truth. In the end it was Sansa, with Steely and Guile who truly slayed Ramsay.

Although there were tons of blood, death, yelling, weaponry and dragons the moral of the episode was all about girl power. Why do we say that? Well with this episode (and season 6 in general) we have seen the toplessness dialed back a bit and the argument time after time that Westeros should be ruled by women. Another perfect example is when Meereen and Yara were creating an alliance together that would literally alter the way things were ran there.

Even though Rickon is one of those characters we all kind of forget about but then quickly reminded how important of a role he has, his death was truly one that will change the future of Game of Thrones the rest of the season. Before the Battle of Bastards even begun, we had arguably one of the most tragic death in Game of Thrones history.

How about those dragon’s? Looks like the team behind the CGI effects are finally getting it right. When we say Daenerys perched atop on Drogon’s back we were reminded how epic this show is. It has had its downfalls with CGI every so often bust with the production cost of near $10 million for this episode, the spent plenty on creating a realistic dragon that truly does not look like CGI.

Every time we think Game of Thrones released an episode that they can’t top, they always ante up their bets and release something truly revolutionary for the small screen.
