The Shallows actress, Blake Lively opposes shark hunting

Over the last week there has been some controversy regarding Hollywood's golden girl actress Blake Lively. Blake Lively has become a centre piece of the Hollywood with her looks, style and talent, and is married to the rather lovely Ryan Reynolds. She is most famously know for appearing in the romance film, The Age of Adaline. However her most recent roll is the film The Shallows, which features Blake playing, pro surfer Nancy Adams who has come to a beach called 'Paradise.'. In the gruelling film, it turns to a tale of survival as our heroine is attacked by a shark and becomes marooned on a small rock some way away from the shore.

This new film seems to be promoting the dangers of sharks attack, yet our Hollywood golden girl has claimed on Twitter that she, Blake Lively opposes the hunting of sharks. The actress on her Twitter has said “Sharks are such majestic creatures that need to be protected.” This is a very true fact, and Blake Lively has the right to believe this, and we here share the views that the culling of any animal is very wrong. However it is a little ironic that Blake Lively were to appear in such a film that warns against shark attacks, something that has become an increasing issue across the world, and then shares her views towards matters involving the majestic creatures.

However despite the increasing problem with shark attacks, the killing of sharks is also a great issue. Every year fewer and fewer sharks are in the ocean where they need to be preserved for the natural running of the oceans eco-system. Even if Blake Lively is contradicting herself, she is right to oppose the culling of these creatures. Despite this, shark attacks have become more and more frequent and they also need to be stopped.

However some have argued that the sharks should not be blamed due to sharks being natural predators, and are doing what is natural to them, hunting to survive. It seems as if Blake Lively's training for the film has given her an appreciation for the sea creatures, so if this is the case, you cannot blame her for finding sharks fascinating.

We haven't seen a film addressing the issues of shark attacks since the famous cult film Jaws, that dealt with such issues as both shark attacks and shark hunting. Despite the irony of Blake Lively's statements, The Shallows looks to be a very gripping thriller film that will no doubt have the viewers sitting on the edge of their seats, watching an epic fight for survival and wanting our golden girl Blake Lively to win against the battle. Now that we have come to the end of our article, what do you think of Blake Lively's views, do you think they are right or ironic? Either way please let us know what you think and feel free to give this a share.
