Unveiling the most awaited- The Veil

The Veil is an American movie directed by Phil Joanou and belongs to the Supernatural horror genre. Phil Joanou is really famous for his work with the music band U2, he directed some of their music videos. Phil directed a movie called Entropy which was based solely on his own life. Robert Garant has written The Veil, who being a comedian is a bit famous for the comical parts in his writing. Thus, there can be a bit of humour expected in the writing of this film. This movie is produced by the Blumhouse Productions. The movie has Lily Rabe, Jessica Alba and Aleksa Palladino not for eye candy but playing the lead and pretty crucial roles in this movie. All three of them have really strong acting backgrounds and they are joined by Thomas Jane and Reid Scott to provide a greater strength to the movie. The movie released on January 19,2016 by video on demand and was later issued through home video formats on February 2,2016. There was a lot of hype revolving around this movie having a star studded cast and being the supernatural horror genre. After seeing movies like the Twilight and shows like the Supernatural, people expect a certain standard that the movie has to deliver for them to be satisfied after watching the output delivered by them.

The plot of the movie is basically about a documentary film-maker Maggie Price played by Jessica Alba who gets in contact with the only survivor Sarah played by Lily Rabe, a member of the religious cult Heaven's Veil who committed suicide, after nearly twenty five years. When Maggie finds out that some extra footage exists and confronts Sarah about it who was a five year old at that time, she accepts it. Christian, Maggie's brother tells everyone about their father who was the FBI officer who was leading this investigation. After getting to know about this mass suicide, he too committed suicide, letting the siblings know the truth. Maggie and her crew then take Sarah back to the place where the mass suicide took place. The story goes on from there with occasional twists like the crew discovering bodies and tapes which add a fear and curiosity element to the audience watching and try to bring them to the edge of their seats. The movie has a run time of about an hour and thirty three minutes and was shot with a budget of just $4 million dollars.

The Veil even though having a great cast and crew to work with, does not live up to the expectation and the hype created. It falls drastically short of being a good movie. The actors involved in the movie did do justice to their parts, but the major negative was the writing and the direction. If that had been done well, this movie might have been a cult classic. As of now, this is movie just has a cult in it and is nowhere near being a classic. A movie which was expected to succeed like the show Supernatural, turned out to be trolled like the Twilight movies.
