Star Wars The Force Awakens becomes inspiration for baby names

Only three months after star wars opened in theatres and it has caught on like fire. It has more and more Google searches and many people are downloading the movie online and watching it. What is surprising however is that more and more 2016 parents continue to use movies as inspirations for the names they will give to their children. Of course there are some really cool names in movies nowadays. Names you would not have known existed any other way. Parents today are looking for ways to stand out and have cool children of the future. There is what may seem like a competition to be the coolest parent ever with the coolest and also smartest kid in the block. One way to make your child cool is to give them a cool and unique name that people will remember and may be wonder where you got it from.

However, even with the need to be cool and all, why would anyone name their child after a blood thirsty psychotic killer? Isn’t that the new low? Unless you want to be the mother to the killer in the village some names just do not cut it. Kylo is an evil warlord in Star Wars The Force Awakens who murders his father in cold blood and is out to kill as many people as he possibly can. While this name is dope and probably too cool to be left alone, most “traditional parents would not call their children by this name. They have a theory that the name one is given has a lot of impact into who they become in future. But that is just a theory and any name could be used for a villain in any movie that is yet to be produced so it probably does not mean anything. Unless you have that conversation with your kid about where you got their name from then it becomes completely awkward.

Anyway, from the movie the name that has become very popular is Rey the brave, handsome hero who is out to save the world and everyone. This name is more popular than Kylo so many parents want to have children who can be something in their future. Rogue and jedi are also trending in the baby- naming world as people await the new Star Wars Rogue One to come out. This show seems to have some very dedicated fans who are willing to keep it alive in their hearts and minds for a long as possible. A good thing for the movie directors and producers and maybe not such a great thing for all the children who will have the same name in the same school.

It is expected that the names will trend even more as more and more people watch the movie and get captured by the skills which it was made. Because of how great the cast was at doing its job, more names from the film will trend as baby names this year and maybe even the next year too.
