The Walking Dead Season 6: Fans outraged by shock cliffhanger finale

The Walking Dead is now moving in to its 7th series but what are the fans saying about the cliffhanger finale to Season 6?

The show which has been running since 2010 has kept fans gripped for 6 seasons (myself included). No matter who you talk to or where you are someone has got an opinion to share about The Walking Dead. You hear people discussing 'biters' and 'saviors' over dinner in a restaurant or having coffee in Starbucks. If you do not watch the show you could be forgiven for becoming slightly concerned by the content of their conversations.

Although the series has received many accolades over the years there has been much controversy surrounding the show in recent days. In particular the season 6 finale has been met with bad reviews and has Walking Dead fans shaking their heads and shouting 'whhhhyyyyyyy' everywhere.

For a vast majority of fans, season 6 was going to be the pinnacle season for the zombie filled show. It was introducing the comic book villain 'Negan' who is set to be the main protagonist for our band of crossbow wielding zombie slayers in season 7 so far.

Negan is played by actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural, Watchmen) who plays the role of a leader to a large group of saviors. His character is ruthless yet charming, frightening yet funny, unpredictable yet annoyingly likeable. All sounds good so far...right? Wrong.

After waiting the entire season to meet him he finally made an appearance in the finale. Fans could forgive some of the dodgy episodes previously, which some describe as 'uninteresting' or 'boring' compared to previous seasons as the big moment had finally arrived. There was unbridled excitement and goosebumps galore as he made his introductions to the the now captured heroes. Disappointingly what should have been fireworks turned in to a wet wash-cloth across the face. The highly anticipated appearance left fans reeling as to which of the main characters Negan may have killed (if anyone).

As the camera moved to first person we witness Negan viciously attacking someone but we have no idea who. As blood trickled down the camera lens we are all left in a state of shock as to which of our beloved characters has been killed off.

The writers and producers of the show in their wisdom thought it would be an exciting way to end the season. The reality though is the fans are outraged by lack of answers and having to wait another 6 months to get them.

Let us hope that The Walking Dead team up the ante in season 7 and give the loyal fans what they want (and deserve). I'm sure there will be the standard blood, guts and excessive use of heavy weaponry to look forward to not to mention a lot more witty one liners to come from Negan. (We can only hope)

I for one cannot wait to see more of Jeffrey Dean Morgan in next season. If only every villain was that easy on the eyes!
