Captain America: Civil War- Do we smell a love story?

Superhero lovers around the world are holding their breath for Marvel’s latest saga Captain America: Civil War to take theatres by storm this May. With Team Captain America all set to battle Team Iron Man in what will definitely be the most iconic superhero-off moviegoers have ever experienced, fans everywhere are going gaga. But keeping aside the superhero costumes and the muscles and gizmos, it is time to examine the softer undercurrents that are affecting our characters.

Of course Captain America: Civil War will be an action thriller and of course it will pack in the punches. It will definitely be armed with jaw dropping visual effects that will leave us gawking at the screens. But can we really ignore the nearly romantic undercurrents that is affecting our favorite duo? Yes, we are talking about none other than Captain America and Bucky Barnes.

Is Captain America a love story?

Bucky Barnes is back after the Winter Soldier debacle and trying to find his place in the normal society. Steve Rogers, aka our Captain America now has to deal with the question of Bucky’s ambiguous morality. The two characters have always shared an intimate bond, having grown up together and dealing with situations that brought out the best and the worst out of both characters.

They have been through the ups and the downs, and now that Bucky is back from the forced servitude with HYDRA, our Captain definitely is feeling the effect of survivor’s remorse. All the currents of emotions will definitely create a tension between the characters. Bucky’s struggle with himself and Steve’s quest for answers as their relationship is put under the scanner will definitely make for wonderful cinematic moments. We can almost see sparks flying off the screen. Bring on the popcorn, people!

Let us hear it from the director himself

Adding fuel to the already raging rumors, none other than the director Joe Russo himself used the phrase “love-story” to describe Captain America: Civil War in a recent interview with Empire. The Cap-Bucky shippers definitely had something to rejoice over. Russo however was pretty quick to backtrack on his initial remark. He quickly condemned the alleged love story to be built on fraternal grounds, and we can almost see him wink.

Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes himself in the movie has also joined Russo in his brotherhood comments to do away with the suggestions of romantic implications. But for us fans, Bucky and the Captain definitely have all the makings of an adorable couple. Come on now Captain, do not disappoint us.
