Captain America: Civil War movie review

Right off the bat, this is the best Marvel Cinematic Universe series. Captain America: The First Avenger was a wonderfully choreographed World War II film. It showed another (albeit fictional) hero of the War rather than the ones we have seen in past films. It was really about the formation of Hydra and the genesis of the man who would go on to lead the Avengers.

But, if that film was fantastic, then Captain America: The Winter Soldier was other worldly. Simply put, this was the best film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to many critics. This critic is of the opinion that this film was better than both Avengers films and the reason for that is simple; it had a perfect storyline that was carefully crafted into a wonderful screenplay, which was in turn directed into an unbelievably good movie.

This one saw the death of SHIELD as we know it and revealed the extent of Hydra’s infiltration of world governments. Chris Evans was again exceptional in his role as the First Avenger; sticking to his principles and saving the world. But it ended on one amazing note; with Steve Rogers determined to find his once best friend, Bucky (who in this film was an assassin known only as the Winter Soldier), who had come to his senses at the end and saved Cap from drowning.

This second instalment, along with Avengers: Age of Ultron and then Ant-Man later (well, the post-credits scene), have brought us to this point; the highly anticipated third instalment of the leader of the Avengers, Captain America: Civil War.

For those familiar with Marvel comic books, you will already know what this movie is about simply from the title. Basically, Cap and Iron Man had a falling out of some sorts and now the heroes are split—do they follow Steve Rogers, or do they follow Tony Starke? The film is centred on political interference in the stuff the Avengers do. This is what causes the strife between the two big dogs of the group, leading a group of heroes to side with Cap and another to side with Iron Man.

We are not big on spoilers, and that leaves us wondering how much more we should tell you Marvel fans (or DC fans checking out Marvel stuff).

When you decide to check out the trailer, you will notice something very interesting; Spider-Man. If you are familiar with the politics surrounding the Spider-Man character, you will be thrilled to see him here. It is a nice touch—and a necessary one for the film to live up to its billing (and comic book predecessor).

Anthony and Joe Russo are back in the directors’ chairs for this one, so you can at least expect it to be action packed and edge-of-the-seat stuff. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are credited for the screenplay once again. It seems the company loves these guys and with good reason. Theirs are wonderful screenplays.

It stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Robert Downey Jr., . It is, after all, a Marvel film and what good is a Marvel film without a star-studded line-up?

We haven’t seen it yet, obviously, so we can’t really give it a rating. This review will show a little biasness now and say that it has been looking forward to this one for quite some time and if you like thrilling action adventure, you best mark May 6 in your calendar and set aside 2 hours and 26 minutes of your day for the blockbuster that is Captain America: Civil War.
