Supernatural Season 12 and beyond

There are great reasons to believe that the epic fantasy series, Supernatural, might indeed go on for a long duration of time. This is indeed great news for a majority of Supernatural fanatics who are still very hopeful that they are going to see the Winchester brothers for yet another season. According to the most recent statistics, the show has recorded a very strong rating performance and these high ratings might push CW to slot the series for another season. While the show is poised for a season 12 pickup, there is particularly one thing that is holding back the series, but it isn’t the usual.

According to the critically acclaimed, TV Line, Supernatural has not only gained a strong cult following but also it has performed way better than last year. Despite the show’s ratings are still weaker when compared with other powerhouse TV shows such as the Walking Dead, the figures are still outstanding for the fifth Broadcasting Network which is still not considered to be a part of the big four. For the fans, this is indeed great news because it means that there is a category of viewers who watch this channel exclusively for the show.

With that being said, there is still one holdup; the survival of the show now rests entirely on the main stars of the show and not the network. The CW president, Mark Pedowitz has always been very outspoken about his support for the series. Additionally, he has also not given the show’s fanatics any reason to worry that the show is going to be cancelled. This in turn means that it is now entirely up to the stars to ensure that the show is not cancelled.

Sam Winchester, Jensen Ackles

The series main stars, Jared Padalecki who plays Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles who plays Dean Winchester have to commit to the 12th season if the show is to move forward. Additionally, the fans should not worry at all because the two main stars have always been enthusiastic about this project. Mark Pedowitz had earlier mentioned that both Jensen and Jared are having a blast while working on the project. And as long as the two are having a blast, then there is no need to worry. Furthermore, Jensen Ackles recently bagged a People’s choice Award. Another actor in the show, Misha Collins who plays castelle in the series was also nominated in the same category.

Other challenges that the creators might face if the series goes beyond season 12 is that they will have to introduce God into the show, which might be rather difficult and they may also end up losing some fans in the process especially those with strong religious inclination. All in all, Supernatural is still CW’s longest running script and from the look of things, the show is not going to come to an end anytime soon. Fans of the series can only hope that both Jared and Jensen will be willing to push the series forward considering the fact that they have the full support of the Network’s top management.
