Memorable moments of Oscars 2016

88th academy awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and it truly honoured best films of 2015. From speeches about racism and global warming, to girl scouts selling cookies, this year’s Oscars ceremony is definitely something we will remember.

Chris Brown was the host this year, and he took some time to talk about boycotting controversy, started by Jade Pinkett-Smith, because no black people were nominated. In Chris Brown’s style he managed to turn everything into comedy, and then decided to let his daughters sell Girl Scout cookies to the audience! Even though everyone seemed a bit confused, they bought the cookies and collected over $65000!

Biggest winner this year was Spotlight, a movie directed by Tom McCarthy, about journalists uncovering the true story of child molestation within Catholic Archdiocese. The movie starred famous actors like Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Rachel McAdams. It conveyed a powerful message about uncovering molestation problems and helping its victims. The movie won two Oscars – best original screen play and best picture.

Another memorable moment was Leonardo DiCaprio receiving his first best actor Academy Award, for his role in move The Revenant. He received standing ovations from audience at the Dolby Theatre, and even though everyone expected an emotional speech (after all he did wait 22 years for this moment) Leonardo DiCaprio managed to stay composed and focused. Like a true gentleman that he is, he thanked the cast and director of The Revenant, his close friends and family, and everyone that helped him become an actor he is today. He also reminded us that global warming is one of the biggest current issues, and that everyone should take some action. The Revenant also won best cinematography, and its director Alejando Gonzalez Inarritu won the Oscar for best director in 2015.
