Since then, there have been a lot of curiosity and anticipation from the fans of this horror franchise on the possibility of yet another edition. However, following the recent announcements, there seems to be still some juice to squeeze out of this sequel. Saw 8 is on the brink and is set to debut before the end of 2016.

Saw 8 comes amid a broad array of success recorded with the previous six editions which commenced in 2004. The horror movie, which features a lethal “Jig Saw killer” who makes his victims go through a series of elaborate tests usually ending to their death, will probably continue exploring jigsaws endless minions.

The film, currently dubbed SAW: LEGACY has been assigned to Peter Goldfinder (script writer for Piranha 3D and Sorority Row) and Josh Stolberg as the major writers to pore over and pen down the eighth production in the franchise. The writers were hired by Lionsgate to help in creating and redefining characters and put together a screenplay for the new film.

When asked about the possibility of Saw 8 in an interview with the IBN, the executive producer James Wan answered with optimism by claiming that the “Saw brand” was just too big just to be cut off at its stem like that. This fueled arrays of excitement from the film enthusiasts whose desires and anticipation for a new film was highly evident.

In the same month, Leigh Whannel who was a co-producer with Wan in the first edition of the Saw films also firmly asserted the speculations when he admitted that he would be closely involved in the production process alongside Wan.

Another report in earlier 2014 further fueled fans’ expectations when Daniel J, Heffner, who was a co-producer in Saw and Saw II, admitted in SchmoesKnow interview that another film was set to release in the spring of 2015 in case everything goes fine with the Lionsgate.
