When this all-female reboot of Ghostbusters was announced, fans took to social media to criticize the gender bending. This was not taken lightly by one of the new additions to the crew, Kristen Wiig. She was not all happy about it saying that it was surprising to her on how there was so much controversy because of them being women. She added that it didn’t really make her mad but really bummed out.

The co-writer of Bridesmaids stated that she was surprised after online trolls mounted a campaign that was against the new female fronted remake of Ghostbusters. She said that this film which she was to co-star with Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones to attract so much attention. Recently in an interview with IGN, Feig the Oscar Award nominated sat down and discussed on how vibrancy of the talented cast of comedians mirrored the whole structure of the script.

Paul Feig, the director of the reboot also had the same feelings after the announcement of the movie. She said that fans had written some of the vilest and misogynistic he had ever seen in his life.

When Feig was questioned about the focus of the film, he stated that this new Ghostbusters team would place more focus on the character to be played by Kristen Wiig. Though the movie will be a team movie, he explained that the star playing the bridesmaid will be the most important point of view character.

The director had revealed that Kristen Wiig’s character would be that of a protagonist who we all see the whole story unfold through her eyes. It seems that this new Ghostbusters movie will be essentially a film primarily about Kristen Wiig with a featured talented supporting cast.

Charles Dance, popular for starring in the Game of Thrones, confirmed that he would appear on the Ghostbusters reboot later this summer. However, he would appear not as an out and out baddie as it had been rumoured. When asked whether he would play a goodie or a baddie, the actor whose Thrones character died after an unfortunate encounter with his son at the lavatory added that he was not villainous and did not just understand and appreciate the whole Ghostbusting idea and was English as well.

This all-female upcoming reboot film of Ghostbusters is likely to have a segment of vexing its potential movie-going audience by its idea of gender swapping. However, the film could end up being the launching point for a rumoured all-male Ghostbusters reboot sometime in 2017. It will be released on theatres on July 15, 2016.
