The sequel to the 2015 blockbuster film will be hitting your screen in less than a month's time. Titled 'Fifty Shades Darker' just like its print form, the new film is set to hit the screens around Valentine's day.
'Fifty Shades Darker' is a replica story of E.L. James novel of the same name. The book is the second in the series written by the renown British author under the Fifty Shades installment. It was first published in 2012, only a year after James had published her first book in the installment 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'. James thereafter wrote 'Fifty Shades Freed' as a sequel to 'Fifty Shades Darker'. This too came out in 2012.
Back to the upcoming film, movie lovers have already been treated to trailers and snippets of 'Fifty Shades Darker'. Not only these, fans have also had an opportunity to know the list of songs in the new movie's soundtrack album. The soundtrack album consists of songs from well-known artists as well as not so familiar artists. Among the popular artists who have contributed to the album include Taylor Swift, Chris Martin, John Legend, Nicki Minaj, Zayn Malik and a few others. Taylor Swift and former One Direction lad Malik will get the most playtime in the film. Their song I Don't Wanna Live Forever has been chosen as the soundtrack album's lead single. The soundtrack album mostly consists of electro-R&B and electropop songs.

Like in all Universal movies, 'Fifty Shades Darker's' marketing has been carried out in a superb way. Universal has so far released around three teaser trailers for its upcoming film, all of which have managed to garner an overwhelming number of views. The film's first trailer, in particular, performed incredibly well. It recorded a total of 114 million online views in just 24 hours following its release on September 15, 2016. This unprecedented figure even broke the record that had been set by Disney's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' the year before. The Force Awakens' first trailer amassed 112 million views in a period of 24 hours after its release.

Even though it managed to oust The Force Awakens and become the film with the most viewed debut trailer, Fifty Shades Darker didn't get to enjoy its newly acquired glory for long. It was soon overtaken by Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' whose debut trailer gathered 127.6 million views 24 hours after its November 2016 release.
Going back to 'Fifty Shades Darker's' debut trailer views, 2.5 million of the 114 million views were drawn from Universal's official Facebook page. YouTube generated the trailer's highest number of views with other social media platforms like Instagram and SnapChat also contributing a significant percentage of viewers. In terms of geographical proportion, North America was revealed to have contributed 39.4 million video viewers. This means that the video was viewed by around 74.6 million persons from places other than the North America. The additional views came from fans from 32 other countries with a majority of them being from the UK, Mexico, and France.
The film's plot
'Fifty Shades Darker's' plot is similar to that of its print version. In the film, Anastasia (Ana) Steele is trying to immerse herself in her career and move on with her life after breaking up with Christian Grey. Her former flame Christian is however not ready to let her go. He embarks on a mission to pursue her and win her heart back. In the event of all this, he clashes with Jack Hyde who is his rival in the quest for Ana's heart. Jack is the editor of Seattle Independent Publishing (SIP) and Ana has taken up a job here as his personal assistant. He seizes this opportunity to ask Ana out every now and then.
Meanwhile, Christian has succeeded in getting Ana to go out with him again. He received an ultimatum from Ana that she will only date him again on condition that their relationship is void of any rule. Christian is intent on keeping Ana for himself only and being as close to her as he can. He therefore secretly buys SIP, a move which angers Ana as she perceives it as his interference on her career. Christian also seeks to protect Ana from Jack by freezing the company's accounts to prevent Ana and Jack from going together on an overnight business trip to New York City. In addition to protecting her from Jack, Christian also seeks to protect Ana from her friend José whom to an extent he also perceives as his rival for her love.

It's not only Christian who has obstacles to face in his mission to enjoy a love relationship with his lady, Ana to has to deal with shadows from Christian's past which threaten to put a dark veil over her relationship with Christian. She faces opposition from Christian's friend and business partner Elena and also from Leila, a former submissive of Christian.
Ana and Christian manage to keep the embers of their love burning in spite of everything that threatens their being together as a couple. Christian even proposes marriage to Ana and she accepts his proposal after a while. Trouble is however not yet over for the couple as Jack intends to take revenge on Christian for every tribulation he made him undergo.
The film's cast
Not much has changed in regards to the sequel film's cast list. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have both returned to take up the lead female role and lead male role respectively. Singer Rita Ora has also reprised her role as Mia Grey, Christian's sister. Other cast members who were in the previous film include Eloise Mumford, Luke Grimes, Max Martini, Marcia Gay Harden, Jennifer Ehle, and Victor Rasuk.
In terms of new faces, viewers will see Bella Heathcote, Eric Johnson, Kim Basinger, Robinne Lee, Fay Masterson, Tyler Hoechlin, and Hugh Dancy.
