The rebirth of Disneys legendary Mulan live-action

Every Disney fan gets butterflies at the mention of an imminent live action. It somehow manages to bring back the childhood memories of the animated relic we loved to watch. You are allowed to be nostalgic, and anxious too, of course. Guess which movie is getting a remake. And guess who is going to direct it! 'Mulan'! The prayers of ardent Disney fans have been answered, the petitions too, maybe.

'Mulan' (1998) was the first Disney animated film to feature an Asian heroine

We have a female director!

The director of Disney’s 'Mulan' live action has been named. The highly-lauded film director Niki Caro, who has been famous for the controversial movies 'Whale Rider' and the 'Zookeeper’s Wife' has been appointed the Mulan live-action director. Her movies have attracted a number of criticisms but at the same time been applauded for their numerous nominations. She joins the exceptional list of ladies to have managed to direct a movie all solo with a humongous sum of money. This means one thing for the male counterparts, the lanes have been switched.

According to 'The Hollywood Reporter', Niki Caro has been hired to direct Disney’s live-action adaptation of Mulan. Previously she directed 'McFarland USA' for Disney in 2015

The animated film remake has set aside an enormous $100 million for the budget. The appointment of Niki Caro as the remake director comes amidst heated concerns of Hollywood studios being discriminative. There have been reports of studios preferring males for the director roles despite the ladies having unmatched experience. It is a big win for her as she leaves the state of dormancy she had slipped to in a long while. I can feel the excitement in the air.

Jamie Chung in 2013 played Mulan in the TV series 'Once Upon A Time'.She’s 32 years old and Korean, but can still pass off as a young Chinese lady
