Meryl Streep to star in J.J Abrams 'The Nix'

If you’re getting your hopes up for Meryl Streep’s next career move in Hollywood, you won’t be disappointed, at least not yet. We have yet to get behind the scenes of this upcoming new novel-based drama from Nathan Hill’s, 'The Nix', published by Knopf last week. And for that, we are in the market for better Hollywood insiders. Read on and let me know.

The newly acclaimed novel, 'The Nix', by Nathan Hill, will be adapted into a new television series starring and produced and directed by Meryl Streep and J.J. Abrams for Warner Bros Television. For now, we only know the news that just broke on Deadline this morning, and is currently lighting up avid Hollywood freaks from the White House to the Left Coast. The fact that Meryl has her hands in so much of this series for the next chapter of her long-winded career, makes it almost impossible to flop.

The plot

It’s story about a son, the mother who left him as a child, and how his search to uncover the secrets of her life leads him to reclaim his own. From the story of Barack Obama himself, to the son Hillary never had (or so Bill says), “The Nix” has all of the elements that will make for 'must-see TV'. We’ve all been waiting for Meryl Streep’s next move, and from all accounts we’ve gathered, with basically no good help from our so-called insiders, this is it. We can’t confirm if she’s had anything done but it is apparent she looks younger than expected after all she’s put us through with her long career of show-stopping sleepers. Meryl continues to prove she’s in a class of her own.

The fact that 'The Nix' is to become a TV Series this Fall makes our so-called insiders’ glad for Meryl’s dietician, as she not only has maintained a ravishing figure, but has also obviously stayed out of the sun, and will no doubt be ready to create some more legacy to add to her world-class acting career. We admittedly need better insider action’ to get to the bottom of what’s really going behind the scenes of this upcoming series, because we know from just word on the street that Warner Bros. Television has just closed a deal for J.J. Abrams to direct and produce this television adaptation of Nathan Hills multi-generational story, 'The Nix'.

The novel on which Streep’s next career move is based on is pretty good, given a cursory overview. The story follows a woman who gets national media attention for throwing rocks at a conservative governor on the presidential campaign trail. You might think this is pushing her real-life left-wing liberal reputation a bit, and so does her estranged son who uses her sudden controversial fame to advance his career by smearing her profile. Way to go estranged son! That’ll show her! Just in time to allow you viewers to let off some steam from the November elections, this Fall series sounds even more interesting than it probably is, if only because it will have Meryl Streep making a leap to TV in the lead role. I think even I will have to watch it!
