The Neon Demon movie review

The Neon Demon is a horror thriller film that will be brought on the silver screen by Nicholas Winding Refn. The script is co- written by Nicholas, Mary Laws and Elle Fanning. Refn explains that one day he walked up surrounded by dominant women and at that moment he decided to produce a horror movie that depicts viscous beauty. The cast will be led by a cast of young female actresses who have dominated the film.

The film is about Elle Fanning as Jesse, an aspiring model who moves to Los Angeles. Her vitality and youth end up devoured by a group of beauty obsessed women who are willing to do anything to get what she owns. The movies features almost non sexual content. Jesse who is a seventeen year old becomes enveloped by some Los Angles women who resort to voodoo and cannibalism to harvest her beauty. The film is a dark tale of treachery and beauty obsession. The horror film depicts that the wicked die young. According to Refn`s wife says that the film adopts the story of Countless Elizabeth a serial killer who lived in the sixteenth century and known for killing virgins while using their blood for bathing as a way of hernessing youthfulness. Refn expressed his obsession with feminism. He says that he likes spending most of his time with women as he enjoys their company that is why he produced a film that is dominated by the female gender.

The casting features; Jena Malone as Ruby, Karl Glusman as Dean, Abbey Lee as Sarah, Desmond Harrington as Jack, Bella Heathcote as Gigi, Keanu Reeves as Hank, Alessandro Nivola as the fashion designer, Christina Hendricks as Jan, Charles Baker as Mickey and Jamie Clayton as the casting director. The music is produced by Cliff Martinez. Phillipe Le Sourd features as the cinematographer. In 2014 The Gaumont Film Company and Wild Bunch announced that the film would be filmed in Los Angeles in 2015 thus the principal photography started on 30th March, 2015. The distribution rights were acquired by Amazon Studios in November 2015.

Keanu Reeves joins Nicholas Winding Refn's Neon Demon

Refn has won the director prize at Cannes in 2011 for the film Drive and has credit on the past works in Pusher, Only God Forgives and Valhalla Rising. The movie features the captivating actor, Christina Hendricks who appeared having curved her face off in the name of beauty in the movie Lost River. The main female complements in the film are Jena Malone from Hunger Games and Bella Heathcote. The film also features Keenu Reeves and Alesandro Nivola who are featured as fashion junkies. Mary Laws is a recent Yale Graduate and brings new energy in the industry as a new comer. The new comer Abbey Lee also featured in the famous Mad Max Fury Road.

Jena Malone posted a picture that was innocently shot of a clapperboard but it noted a frame rate of 60fps. The director is seen to follow in the footsteps of Peter Jackson and James Cameron by creating hyper real imagery in horror picture but the whole thing seemed to be over blow. The horror thriller is expected to be released early this year.
