Lady Gaga's emotional Oscar's performance

Lady Gaga has surpassed herself. This is just one of many comments about her Oscars' performance of Diane Warren's song "Till' it happens to you", from the documentary "The Hunting Ground", at the 88th Academy Awards. It was a very emotional moment for everyone in the Oscar audience. This Oscar-nominated song, talks about sexual assault.

The performance was introduced by the US Vice President, Joe Biden who urged the viewers to vote against violence and change the dialogue about sexual assault, calling Gaga a courageous lady. Lady Gaga, a first time Academy Award nominee, began her dramatic and powerful performance by appearing on a darkened stage, dressed in white, sitting at a white piano, accompanied by an orchestra. Halfway trough the performance she was joined by a group of men and women which are sexual-assault survivors, including Andrea Pino and Annie E. Clark who are two of the subjects in "The Hunting Ground". They stood arm in arm behind the pop-singer, showing their solidarity and strength. They surrounded Gaga at the piano, showing the words "Not your fault", "You are love", "Survivor", "Unbreakable", that were written on their arms. Once the performance was over, the audience in Dolby Theatre, gave her a standing ovation. Kate Winslet, Rachel McAdams and several other stars were seen with tears in their eyes. Needless to say, it was an incredible, emotional and a groundbreaking performance. She didn't however take the grand prize, with Sam Smith winning "Best Original Song" for the "Writing's on the Wall", but she did leave us with the performance that will be remembered for years to come.

Following Gaga's performance of "Till' it happens to you", actress Brie Larson, the fresh Academy Award winner, hugged each sexual assault victim that appeared on stage with Lady Gaga, showing her solidarity. The 29 year old performer, both Warren are rape victims themselves and the song bears special meaning for the singer, because it is inspired by her own experience of being sexually assaulted at the age of 19. Warren has already been nominated for "Best Original Song" and this was his eight nomination. Warren and Gaga gave us a powerful show of solidarity and strength that history will remember forever. Gaga poured her soul into the song, singing her heart out, giving us the most emotional moment of Oscars 2016.

Social media was on fire with many people, together with actress Kerry Washington, that were thanking Lady Gaga for raising awareness about victims of sexual assault. People were talking about how moved they were with the sexual assault inspired song. The popular singer Kesha, who is also a victim of sexual assault, thanked Lady Gaga for her tribute to rape survivors. Earlier today, Gaga posted a picture of her and her fiance, actor Taylor Kinney on Instagram, with the sweetest message, saying she never thought anyone would ever love her, because she felt like her body was ruined by her abuser and that Taylor loves the survivor in her. She also wrote that he's stood by her all night proud and unashamedly, calling him a real man. Wow! Bravo Taylor! And bravo Gaga - and bravo to each and every survivor for raising awareness of sexual violence on national television in such inspiring way.
