Can Assassin's Creed movie live up to the hype?

Assassin’s Creed finished filming almost a year before it release. The action movie is set to be released on December 21st this year although word is that the schedule could be rejigged depending on the release of other films during the year. Shooting was completed on a month ago on January 15th according to Aymar Azaizia the movie’s head of content. The film will star two time Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender. He leads in his role as a 15th Century Spanish Assassin Aguilar known as Callum Lynch. The story follows the video game’s nine year franchise. Initial images of the movie came out showing scenes of Fassbender fighting as his character fits. Similarly the movie’s trailer is out in advance. Filming of the movie started exactly a year ago in February with director Justin Kurzel. New Regency and 20th Century Fox made the film. The plot follows Callum Lynch’s discovery that he has descended from a mysterious secret society known as The Assassins. And with seminal technology he unlocks his memories and experiences the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar in 15 th century Spain. He accumulates knowledge and skills which enable him to take on the oppressive Templar organisation in the present day. Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch The movie is significant for having cast that is moderate in its star power. Fassbender is joined by female lead Marion Cotillard and Ariane Labed whose role is unknown for now. Brendan Gleeson, Jeremy Irons and Micheal. K. Smith join the rest of the supporting cast. Fassbender with an interview in Wall Street Journal dropped hints on what to expect from his character. He described Callum Lynch as an outsider and a lost soul. He alluded to the fact that his lineage could be the pillar of the entire film without really letting in on further details. But one thing he was equivocal about was his delight at being involved in the film. He described his experience as great and a learning experience. He also co-produced the film saying that educational for him and he was positive that the movie will be something special. It should be something special give that 2016 seems to be a year of franchises given that the likes of X-Men, Captain America, Batman V Superman are very much anticipated. Fans of the popular game can read a new book series about Assassin’s Creed that features a new storyline but still have characters of the game and the movie is set to bring that storyline and characters to life later in the year. The book series by Micheal .J. Kirby will be titled Last Descendants’, although details on the series are still sketchy with Azaizia being non-committal on plans for the book. But the movie could provide direction on the situation of the book. Moviegoers will be hoping that Assassin’s Creed will provide a great outing better that 2015’s Hitman: Agent 47, another game franchise, which received lukewarm responses. So far, the hype about the movie is positive and a statement from Ubisoft that there will be no Assassin’s Creed game release for 2016 should not dampen vibe about the movie.
