CBS OKs 'The Big Bang Theory' Prequel

Bazinga! Are you ready to see more of Sheldon Cooper? This time, however, in his younger, formative years. Well, wait and worry no more. CBS has officially green-lighted 'Young Sheldon', a single-camera 'The Big Bang Theory' spinoff that is now all set for the primetime year 2017-2018. Its premiere date, however, is yet to be unveiled in the coming days.

Despite the fact that some viewers take Sheldon's behavior, mannerisms, and social skills as a sign that Sheldon has Asperger's syndrome or otherwise falls on the autism spectrum, the show-runners have persistently denied in many interviews that Sheldon has Asperger's or any other type of autism. It should be noted, however, that actor Jim Parsons (Sheldon) has stated that he does think that Sheldon actually does have Asperger's syndrome and portrays him as such

The highly anticipated TV series has enlisted the prowess of none other than the globally acclaimed filmmaker Jon Favreau to serve as its director and executive producer (EP) for the pilot episode. 'Young Sheldon' begins with Cooper’s earlier life as a prodigy in East Texas, where he goes to high school at a very young age. It will be told from the point-of-view (POV) of the all-grown Cooper. Consequently, Jim Parsons, who currently plays the coveted role of Cooper on 'The Big Bang Theory', will serve as the new series’ narrator.

Parsons, who had given birth to the idea for a spinoff, will serve as the EP of 'Young Sheldon' together with 'The Big Bang Theory' EPs Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Todd Spiewak under Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in cooperation with Warner Bros. TV.

Iain Armitage is the son of theater producer Lee Armitage and actor Euan Morton. He almost has 36K social media followers, holds a purple belt in Tae Kwan Do, and dresses up like David Bowie and the Phantom of the Opera

Iain Armitage has been cast for the lead role of nine-year-old Cooper. Other members of the cast include Lance Barber, who will play the role of the father; Zoe Perry, who will play the role of her real-life mother on 'The Big Bang Theory' as the mother; and Montana-Jordan and Raegan Revord, who will play as the Cooper siblings Missy and George, respectively.

What makes 'Young Sheldon' more interesting for fans all over the world is that it will finally shed a light on Cooper’s upbringing as well has his father issues. On 'The Big Bang Theory', it has been established through the years that Cooper had been raised by a Christian mother whose husband was an alcoholic and was not around for their family. Was Cooper always egotistic, full of himself, and socially awkward? Well, in one way or another, this spinoff will definitely give fans a better and deeper understanding of his character.

According to CBS CEO Leslie Moonves, the upcoming TV series will most probably air behind 'The Big Bang Theory' this coming fall or sometime within the upcoming primetime year. That is, of course, if the long time running TV series secures the broadcasting network’s approval for an 11th season.

New TV shows that stem from other TV shows could only have so much potential in the long run. Whether or not fans will see the younger versions of leading 'The Big Bang Theory' characters such as Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), Penny Hofstadter (Kaley Cuoco), Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), and B_ernadette Wolowitz_ (Melissa Rauch) on 'Young Sheldon', well… fans will have to wait and see for themselves!

From June 2015 to June 2016, cast members Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar were the top four highest paid television actors, and actress Kaley Cuoco was the highest paid actress for the same time period

'The Big Bang Theory' is presently in its 10th consecutive year on the air, thanks to its enormous global following. With that, it is truly hard to doubt why a prequel has quickly received approval. There is also no reason to doubt that 'Young Sheldon' will become a massive hit! After all, despite his narcissistic nature, Cooper is well-loved by the fans.
